Can I travel to Tibet with my Chinese Visa only since I already have a Chinese Visa?

This additional permit is mandatory for all foreign travelers, regardless of whether you already possess a Chinese Visa. The travel agency organizing your trip will handle the application process for this permit. Without the Tibet Travel Permit, you will not be allowed to board flights or trains to Tibet.
How to get to Tibet from the mainland of China?

The most convenient way to get to Tibet from mainland China is by flight. Major cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou offer direct flights to Lhasa, the provincial capital of Tibet. Among them, the Chengdu to Lhasa flight is particularly popular due to its frequency and relatively short duration.

Alternatively, if you have ample time and wish to experience the breathtaking scenery, you can take the Tibet train via the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. The train journey lasts from 21 to 53 hours, depending on your departure city. You will witness the dramatic landscapes of the Tibetan Plateau as you reach Lhasa, and it will also help you acclimate gradually to the high altitude.
How to travel overland to Tibet from the mainland of China?

Traveling overland to Tibet is an adventurous option, with four main highways leading to the plateau. The Sichuan-Tibet Highway (G318) is the most popular route, winding from Chengdu to Lhasa through diverse natural landscapes like rugged mountains, torrential rivers, lush subtropical rainforests, massive pastures, and more.
